Photo Description:The Greenwich Tea Party, Greenwich, N.J. From original oil painting of Greenwich Tea Party, by Gertrude Albertson Huber. Patriots, disguised as indians, burned cargo of tea on night of December 22, 1774. Tea from Capt. Allen's Brig Greyhound, was stored in house on Market Square for safekeeping, to be taken later to Philadelphia. Philip Vickers Fithian wrote of this event in his famous journal. A monument was erected in 1908 to commemorate Greenwich Tea Party.
